With a 3 AM wakeup call 😳, the pilgrims schlepped down to the first floor of our hotel for coffee and carb-load and then boarded the bus for the Thessaloniki airport. After a quick flight to Athens, we were shuttled over to the cruise ship terminal where we made our way through the lines to board our ship, the Royal Olympian. After the requisite life-boat drill, I went down for a brief nap. We arrived in Mykonos at about 7 PM. Our guide, Gabriele, led us on a brief informal tour of the old harbor, pointing out the beautiful examples of architecture and characteristic balconies and led us past the windmills, “Little Venice” and into the heart of the ancient city. It was here that I began my epic quest to acquire tchotchkes for my beloved family back home. As dusk descended, I made my way back to the ship with several fellow pilgrims. I went to bed waaaaaaaaay past my bedtime which was hardly wise given the early morning, but there’s just so much to see and do! 😁
